Irked over sudden death of their colleague, employees of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC), on Thursday observed strike and staged silent protest at JMC headquarters. Employees’ union leaders also submitted a memorandum to the Mayor, Chairperson of JMC, Divisional Commissioner and Collector demanding fulfillment of their demands.
Meanwhile, Union leaders have warned of massive protest if amicable solution is not made to their long pending demands within three days. In the memorandum they have demanded strict action against officials responsible for death of Mukesh. They also demanded to make public autopsy report of the deceased employee and stop creating unwanted pressure on the employees.
Refusing to accept their colleague’s death as normal, JMC employees have alleged that senior most officials are leaving no stone unturned to harass workers and Mukesh Paras could not tolerate this harassment and died due to heart attack. Employees’ Union leaders, including Ram Dubey, Kapil Dubey and others alleged that due to unnecessary work pressure, many other employees are also under stress and are falling prey to diseases.
They said Mukesh Paras was originally a sanitation employee but was serving in anti-encroachment squad for last
several years. Recently, an inquiry was held against him in a case and then the exercise of sending him to original post of sanitation employee was also started. Due to which he was under tension, possibly due to not being able to bear this tension, on Wednesday night he died of cardiac arrest, alleged Dubey.
Union leaders said on Wednesday, Mukesh had received the notice of termination of service. After which he got tensed and his health deteriorated. However, rumors also spread in the JMC headquarters that Mukesh Paras has committed suicide.
