He illustrated how he developed biomedical devices for real-life uses through collaboration with academia and national laboratories with inputs from clinicians and industries. He also highlighted the translational research on the acetabular liner, dental implants and the multicentric pilot studies using patient-specific bone flaps for cranioplasty surgery. Notably, professor Basu is a senior faculty member at the Materials Research Centre, and holds a joint appointment at the Centre for Biosystems Science and Engineering at IISC Bangalore.
He is also Visiting Professor at the University of Manchester, UK and at the European Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalised Glass, Alexander Dub University of Tren, Slovakia. The seminar was organised by Dr Suchetan Pal (assistant professor, Department of Chemistry) and Dr Rukmankesh (assistant professor, Department of Chemistry), while Dr Sanjib Banerjee (Head, Department of Chemistry, IIT Bhilai) felicitated professor Basu with a memento at the end of the session.
