MAHARASHTRA State Handlooms Corporation Ltd (MSHC), Nagpur, is a Government of Maharashtra undertaking established with an socio-economic objective of helping the handloom weavers of the State and provide employment. In order to identify high quality traditional handloom products of Maharashtra and to provide employment to the weavers. With this in mind the Handloom Corporation on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8 launched its app to sell handloom products online. Customers can now buy high quality handloom products with the app. To celebrate the International Women’s Day a fashion show was organised from March 8 to 10. People buying handloom products using the app will get 5 per cent discount from March 8 to March 10. MSHC is also showcasing attractive Paithani and other varieties of sarees.
Customised cotton and bamboo and Banaras Paithani sarees have also been introduced. The handloom products have also been displayed by Miss World 2018 and Miss Universe 2017. Sheetal Teli Ugale, Managing Director of MSHC, Nagpur said, “The Handloom Corporation is providing platform to the weavers to sell their products and also giving employment in the process.” Vijay Nimje, Joint Managing Director of MSHC, Vina Sarda, Dr Anupama Bhute, Krupa Sawlani, Sheetal Chava, Meenu Saboo, Arti Kalode, Priya Upgalwar, Kanchan Patel, Amruta Agrawal, Meghna Kumbhare, Meenu Bhandari, Nidhi Gandhi, Taliya Mirjha and Manisha Karandikar were present at the event.
