Making a scathing attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government at the Centre over rising inflation, All India Mahila Congress President Netta D’Souza said that inflation is at peak in the country and prices of essential commodities are skyrocketing. Talking to mediapersons at State Congress party office Rajiv Bhawan, Raipur, Netta D’Souza said that when the prices of gas cylinder and fuel used to hike during the previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, BJP leader Smriti Irani and other BJP leaders had protested with gas cylinder on streets. The prices of gas cylinder crossed over Rs 1,000 per cylinder but not a single BJP leader protests over it. When the Congress leaders protest against fuel price hike, FIRs are registered against the Congress leaders. The BJP Government at the Centre is trying to snatch protest right from the opposition parties, the Mahila Congress National President said.
When the BJP is in opposition, it opposes the policy of the government. But the BJP forgets all things after getting power. There is no emotional attachment of the BJP with common people. The BJP government at the Centre
is helping few capitalists. The Congress party also works for the welfare of common people, she added. Asked on central leadership change, Netta D’Souza said that it was the internal issue of the party and so it should not be politicised. Over 23 crore people again became poor during the BJP government in the last seven years while 27 crore had come out from poverty during the previous UPA government, she added. Rajya Sabha Member and Chhattisgarh Pradesh Mahila Congress (CPMC) President Phulodevi Netam, who was also present at the press conference, said that the meeting of the CPMC was held at Rajiv Bhawan.
