“The proposal to get Rs 100 crore is in the final stage and will be ready in next week. We will immediately send it to Maharashtra Government. Government has already promised us to give the amount as University is celebrating its centenary year,” Dr Subhash Chaudhary, Vice-Chancellor of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) told ‘The Hitavada’ on phone.
Last year, Adv Abhijit Wanjari had given a letter to Ajit Pawar, Finance Minister and requested him to sanction Rs 100 crore for the University. Pawar assured him to give Rs 50 crore. Accordingly, Adv Wanjari conveyed it to Dr Subhash Chaudhary. According to experts, since University is completing 100 years, Government automatically sanctions money without any proposal. Here, the Finance Department pushed it to Higher and Technical Education Department which was needed. Fortunately, Pawar has made an announcement in the House during Budget session of State Legislature recently. He has made it clear that his department would allocate Rs 50 crore and remaining money would be given phase-wise. He has asked university to submit proposal.
Dr Chaudhary said, “We have prepared proposal wherein we have planned some projects
that would help university for long. We do not want money
for our programmes to be
conducted to mark centenary of university. We want to develop sports complex, skill development centre, Technology Park, Energy Park. It will be sent to Government next week.”
Adv Abhijeet Wanjari
has welcomed the
constructive response from University. He said, he
would follow-up with
Finance Ministry in
Mumbai to get the amount sanctioned early.
