The civic body administration laid out a road map for converting Risali Municipal Corporation (RMC) into one of the best livable civic bodies in the state by showcasing a host of development projects as well as welfare measures in 110.51 crore annual budget of 2022-23. The first Mayor of RMC, Shashi Sinha presented the first ever budget of the civic body at community hall of Maitri Kunj here on Tuesday. She brought the documents of budget into special briefcase made up by cow dung.
Presenting the budget, Mayor Shashi Sinha said efforts were being made to offer all services of the corporation in e-mode in upcoming months. A mobile app-based grievance redressal system will also be introduced shortly. The civic body has set aside 3.5 crore rupees for e-governance projects, she said. In the first budget of the civic body, mayor focused majorly on road developments, cleanliness and beautification of several wards in the civic body.
In the budget session, the mayor pointed out that the start of construction work of new office complex of the corporation has also been mentioned in the budget and Mayor informed that, very soon tenders will be released to
start of the construction work of permanent office of the civic body. It is learnt that; RMC has received the three-star rating and very soon it will get the five-star rating. Owing to pandemic of coronavirus, many development works of the civic body have not been started so far and in revenue collection, the civic body have failed to achieve the target. Shashi Sinha informed that, rom 2022-23 onwards, with the efforts of everyone in the civic body, development works will also be started and the RMC should be able to achieve the target in terms of revenue collection. The civic body plans to spend 7 crore rupees from its own funds and mobilise resources available with State and Central governments for the beautification of almost all 40 wards. For cleanliness and garbage collection, the RMC has allowed to purchase 40 e-vehicles worth of 2.5 crore rupees to make the proper function of garbage collection and all wards should be turned out into a neat and clean area. Meanwhile, some of BJP’s corporators have opposed the budget but did not get opportunity to raise their voices. They alleged that the current Mayor have failed to provide the copies of budget to them on time and as a result of it, they could get a chance to cross question her in many of her projects and their budgets. In the budget session, Commissioner, Ashish Dewangan, Nodal Officer, Ramakant Sahu, all officials of the corporation, MiC members, Corporators of all wards were present and the budget session was concluded within a time period of 60 minutes
