2 new flyovers on Amravati Rd will ease traffic congestion: Gadkari

The bhoomipujan of two new flyovers -- RTO to RTMNU campus and Maruti Showroom-Wadi Police Station -- was performed on Saturday evening. “These two flyovers will ease traffic congestion on Amravati Road,” said Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, while speaking on the occasion. The RTO-RTMNU campus flyover will be 2.85 kms long, and Wadi flyover will be 1.94 km long. The combined length of these two flyovers will be 4.79 km and the total estimated cost of construction is Rs 479 crore. The four-lane flyover will be constructed by Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and Public Works Department of Maharashtra Government. These flyovers will not only ease traffic congestion but also save fuel and time, and help in making the road accident-free, said Gadkari. He appealed to the transporters in Wadi to come together and also proposed to make ‘Transport Nagar’ through Nagpur Improvement Trust.
 
Once this area is created, it will serve as solution to traffic convestion and also lead to decrease in pollution. The Union Minister also announced that an Agriculture Convention Centre of Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth would be set up on 180 acres land along Amravati Highway. The traffic on Amravati Road stretch near Ravi Nagar will be eased, with four-lane road and four-lane flyover, he said. He assured that the quality of work would be maintained by the contractor concerned.
 
He also spoke on colour fountains at Futala, garden, and other development projects in Nagpur city. Also, he said that Nagpur city should stand at top in the country in environment and ecological conservation. Devendra Fadnavis, Leader of Opposition in State Legislative Assembly; Pravin Datke, MLC and Bharatiya Janata Party city chief; Chandrashekhar Bawankule, MLC; Sameer Meghe, Hingna MLA; Dayashankar Tiwari, Mayor; Sudhakar Deshmukh, Sanjay Bangale and others shared the dais on the occasion.
