Air passengers in and around the city may now travel to Belagavi (Belgaum) in Karnataka as Star Air has launched a direct flight between the two destination. The first air connectivity between the two city was launched on Thursday.
The aviation arm of Sanjay Ghodawat Group, has launched the service.

Star Air has been operating twice a week between the two destinations on Tuesday and Saturday. The schedule of these flights has been planned to offer passengers the most reasonable prices under the popular UDAN scheme.
The objective of the Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme is to enhance air connectivity from certain States of the country with selected destinations to promote socio-economic growth. This scheme is supported by the State Governments.
The flight service between Belagavi and Nagpur covers a distance of 762 km and passengers will have to spend only 1 hour to reach the destination. It used to take more than 19 hours to cover the same distance using other mode of transportation.
With this service in place, the passengers from the city may also go to nearby places like Kolhapur, Goa and
Hubli as these cities are very close to Belagavi.
