AG Kerala retain IA&AD soccer title

MAINTAINING their supremacy, AG Kerala proved they are still the best accountmen in the country as far as football is concerned.
The defending champions defeated the same rival they played last year to retain the Indian Audit & Accounts Department (IA&AD) Inter Zonal Football Crown.
In the summit clash, Kerala pipped AG West Bengal 2-1.
Kerala were stunned when AG West Bengal’s Somnath opened the account with a beautiful field goal in the 23rd minute. However in the second half, Kerala bounced back and scored the equaliser through Najesh. In the extra-time, Midhun Wilvet converted a spot kick to make it 2-1.
Praveer Kumar, AG (A&E)-II, Mah, Nagpur was the chief guest of the prize distribution function. Prof Vijay Barse, founder of Slum Soccer, was the guest of honour.
Somnath was named player of the match while Alim Sheikh of Maharashtra was named best goalkeeper. Nachiket Palak of Maharashtra was declared best defender, Jackson Dhass (Tamil Nadu), the best forward and Abinav Bag of AG West Bengal best midfielder. Naushad of Kerala was declared man of the tournament.
R Thiruppathi Venkatasamy, Accountant General (Audit)-II, Nagpur congratulated the winning and runners teams.
HT Fulpadia, Sr DAG (Admn) and Welfare Officer, Pallavi Holkar, Sr Dy, Accountant General (AMG-II), Aditya R Bhojgadhiya, Sr Dy Accountant General, Branch office, Mumbai, Dinesh Mate, Sr Dy Accountant General (Pension, Fund and Accounts), Akshay Khandare, Dy Accountant General (Admn), Naresh Kumar Manne, Dy Accountant General (AMG-IV), Dhanraj Chavhan, Welfare Officer (A&E) others were also present.
Ranjit Sharma and Astha Garge conducted the proceedings while Dintis Thomas read out the report of the tournament. Devendra Mishra, President, AGRC proposed a vote of thanks.
