The rate of collection of tendu patta for the year 2022 has been fixed at Rs 3,000 per standard bag for 45 lakh tendu leaf pluckers of the State. The Forest Department has issued orders to this effect.
On April 22, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced to increase the collection rate of tendu patta in the forest committees’ conference in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Till the year 2021, the collection rate was Rs 2,500 per standard bag. A target of 16.29 lakh standard bags has been set this year.
Managing Director of MP Rajya Laghu Vanopaj Sangh Pushkar Singh informed that the work of collecting tendu patta is done by the Rajya Laghu Vanopaj Sangh.
This is done through 60 district forest produce co-operative unions and 1,066 primary forest produce co-operative societies in the state. At present there are 45 lakh tendu patta pluckers in the state. Of these, more than 50 per cent of the 23 lakh collectors belong to the tribal category. Similarly, 40 per cent are women pluckers. Will get remuneration of Rs 500 crore this year: With the increase in the rate of collection of tendu patta this year, those engaged in the collection work will get a remuneration of Rs 500 crore. This will be an additional remuneration of Rs 81 crore as compared to the previous year, which will help in providing additional means of employment during the summer season. Tendu patta pluckers get dividend also: Managing Director Singh informed that the amount of dividend is also distributed to the Tendu patta pluckers. From this year onwards, it has been decided to increase the net profit it dividend from 70 to 75 per cent and directly distribute it to the tendu patta collectors.
