Five-member committee of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly has come into existence to investigate the Trimurti seed scam committed by the Chhattisgarh State Seeds and Agriculture Development Corporation.
The House has formed the committee including three Congress MLAs and two BJP MLAs. The committee will have to present its report in the next session of the Assembly. It may be recalled that the matter was raised during the Question Hour by Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik on March 22 during the Budget Session of the Legislative Assembly conducted from March 7 to March 22.
In response, Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Ravindra Choubey had replied in the House to the question of Kaushik and announced to ban Trimurti Plant for supplying inferior quality hybrid seeds. He also announced in the House to stop the payment of the company.
The Agriculture Minister accepted the investigation demand of the Opposition which had created chaos in the House over the issue following the intervention of Speaker Dr Charandas Mahant.On March 25, the then Principal Secretary of the Assembly Secretariat Chandrashekhar Gangrade issued an order to constitute the committee.
Under this, five MLAs have been entrusted with the investigation duty. Congress Abhanpur MLA Dhanendra Sahu will chair the committee.
Congress MLA Lakheshwar Baghel and Sangeeta Sinha, and BJP MLAs Narayan Chandel and Saurabh Singh have been included in the committee as members. Information regarding the formation of the committee has been sent to the
MLAs concerned.
According to Chairman of the Committee Dhanendra Sahu, a meeting of the committee will be called soon to discuss strategy of investigation.
