Total 12,173 cases were settled in the National Lok Adalat organised in District Court, Durg and various other courts in the district on Saturday. The settlement amount paid was Rs 6.51 crore and the litigants and lawyers in large number attended the second National Lok Adalat of the year 2022.
Notably, more than 10,000 revenue related cases were disposed of in the National Lok Adalat which was inaugurated by newly posted District and Sessions Judge/President of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal. Apart from physical mode, the litigants also participated in the lok adalat virtually and parties in six cases decided to mutually settle the disputes through virtual mode.
DLSA Secretary Ashish Dahariya informed that 1891 court cases and 93 cases on pre-litigation stage besides 10,186 revenue related cases were settled in the National Lok Adalat.
Dahariya added that out of the total cases disposed of, 467 were punitive criminal cases, 9 related to Electricity Act, 33 cases related to Motor Accident Claims, 102 family disputes, 176 cases of cheque bounce under Negotiable Instruments Act, 29 civil cases, 43 related to Labour Court, 152 in permanent Lok Adalat and 167 other cases.
The judicial officer further informed that total 5 cases related to assault and criminal intimidation were settled virtually as the benches presided over by judicial officers Umesh Upadhyay, Tajuddin Asif and Ankita Gupta received consent from both the parties involved in cases to settle the dispute amicably.
Similarly, matrimonial dispute between two couple was resolved during the lok adalat. In the first case, the husband had assaulted his wife under the influence of alcohol and a complaint in this regard was lodged by the wife in Durg Kotwali Police Station. Suspecting infidelity, the husband had assaulted his wife in the second case and both the cases were brought for mediation. Benches of Chief Judicial Magistrate and Judicial Officer Janardan Khare mediated both the disputes. DLSA Secretary Ashish informed that the next national lok adalat will be organised on August 13.
