Three held for duping aspirants of Rs 1.50 cr on pretext of Govt jobs

With arrest of three persons, including two Bihar residents, Nagpur Rural police on Monday claimed to have busted a gang involved in duping job aspirants of Rs 1.50 crore by promising them jobs in Western Coalfields Ltd (WCL), Railways and State Bank of India (SBI), police said.
Addressing a press conference, Superintendent of Police (SP) Vijay Magar informed newspersons that the accused were arrested by Economic Offences Wing (EoW) of Rural police acting on the complaint lodged by Satish Prakash Adhe (30), a resident of Khurajgaon, Tehsil - Saoner.
The arrested accused are identified as Shilpa Raju Palparthi (40), a resident of Manewada; Kundan Kumar alias Rahul Singh Ramesh Sharma (34) and Mohammad Danish Jishan Alam alias Danish Jishan Mohammad Alamgir (35), both residents of Patna, Bihar. The accused were remanded to police custody till May 24, the SP said. One of the accused Amit Maroti Kowe had committed suicide in Dhantoli area in January this year due
to depression, he added. The police are suspecting that Kowe was in contact with Shilpa and the Bihar residents. He had accepted Rs 10 lakh to Rs 12 lakh from the job aspirants on the promise of jobs in the WCL, railways and SBI.
The Bihar residents were introducing themselves as railway officials to the aspirants to win their confidence, SP Magar said. The police have received nine complaints from the district and three from the city area so far, he said, adding that the number of complaints would increase soon.
After accepting cash from the aspirants, the accused were issuing them fake appointment letters. The fraud came to fore when the aspirants reached the concerned government agency for joining with the letters.
Acting on the complaint, Kelwad police had registered a case of fraud against Shilpa, Kowe and Ramesh Kamone on January 16. Next day, Kowe (64), a residnet of Juni Vasti, Borgaon, had committed suicide by consuming poison near Panchshil square.
The case was transferred to EoW for investigation. DySP Rajendra Nikam identified the culprits and arrested them on Sunday. SP Magar appeals victims to lodge complaint SP Vijay Magar appealed to victims to approach the SP office to lodge a complaint against the accused persons.
“Many youngsters were duped by the fraudsters. We are appealing the victims to lodge complaints against the accused,” the SP appealed.
Accused Shilpa was working in Malaysia
Shilpa was a nurse working with a private hospital in Malaysia. She returned to Nagpur in 2019 and started working with a job consultancy under one Monali Meshram in Sitabuldi area. For some time she was working in a company in Sitabuldi.
Monali had also cheated many job aspirants and was jailed for the fraud. Soon after, Shilpa too started duping people.
A case was registered against Shilpa, her husband and father-in-law at Hudkeshwar police station in 2011. Her father-in-law is a retired bank official, SP Magar stated.
