Setting the ball rolling for the general elections to Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), State Election Commission on Tuesday notified the final draft of the Prabhag. The Prabhag's boundaries were released on civic body's website www.nmcnagpur.gov.in as well as in the zonal office. Some changes were effected in the provisional draft that was earlier finalised and release for public by NMC on February 1 as SEC took into consideration suggestions put in by the citizens.
Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Radhakrishnan B said that the SEC has approved the final ward structure of Nagpur Municipal Corporation. While notifying the final draft, SEC has made some changes in Ward Nos. 29, 46 and 48. In Ward 29 the population has increased by 2300 and in Ward 46 the population has decreased by 94. The population of Ward 48 has decreased by 1268. There is no change in the rest of the ward structures.
The final ward composition was approved on May 12 and U P S Madan, State Election
Commissioner, gave his assent to NMC's Prabhag system on Tuesday. As mentioned earlier there would be 52 Prabhags having representation of 3-members each.
As per information, final ward composition is based on the 2011 census data and the total population, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes was taken into account on that basis. According to the approved ward structure, NMC
House will have a total of 156 members.
The average population of the ward is 47,067, the highest population is in ward no. 29, about 54093 and the lowest population ward no. 48, it is 41092.
