A 17-year-old resident of Salem town in Coimbatore (TN) has been arrested by the Bhopal Cyber Crime personnel for threatening to blow up 11 schools in the city. This 12th class student made a bot computer programme using Python language and sold it to an unknown person for $200 through Telegram internet media. The unidentified person generated several spoofing emails using this computer programme which were sent to the IP addresses of different schools in Bangalore and Coimbatore on April 8. After harassing the Bangalore and Coimbatore police for a month, the same unidentified accused issued the same e-mails on May 13, using the IP same address, to a Bhopal school giving bomb threats. The accused had used four types of Internet protocol addresses to send threatening e-mails. One of these protocols was of the latest category of version six, which even the cyber police of Bangalore were unable to track. With the help of Gmail, Bhopal Cyber Police, using this facility, extracted the information of the latest version of IP Six. After getting information from Gmail, a team of Bhopal Cyber Police left for Salem district in Tamil Nadu. After investigation here, the police arrested the 17-year-old accused.
Has sold at least ten bot computer programs
According to Cyber Crime Police, this teenager having a normal family background told the police that he had developed the software through bot computer programming (automatic program acting like a robot).
He has so far made and sold 10 such programs through Telegram internet media.
Recently, a bot program for generating spoofing emails was sold to a person for US$200.
Police have issued notice against the accused juvenile by registering a case under Section 504 at Bhopal Cyber Police Station.
Cyber terrorism case registered in Bengaluru
The Bengaluru Police was conducting a search operation against the 17-year-old accused for the last 41 days. On April 8, there was chaos in Bangalore and Coimbatore through spoofing emails generated using his bot program.
Bengaluru Police had registered a case against the juvenile accused under sections 16-F, IT Act and cyber terrorism.
Cyber Police Bhopal and Bangalore Police have jointly started an investigation against Telegram internet media operated by a Russian company. The company’s servers are located in many cities of the United States and it is being operated from Russia. By creating an account on the Telegram platform, it is collecting information about the accused who bought the bot program for $200.
