Amidst the controversy over the Gyanvapi Masjid of Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), the Jama Masjid of Bhopal has been claimed to be a Shiva temple. Situated in the centre of the city, this mosque was built by Qudsia Begum, the first woman ruler of Bhopal, between 1832 and 1857 AD. A memorandum has also been submitted to Home Minister Dt Narottam Mishra regarding this.
Sanskriti Bachao Manch has given reference of the book written in Urdu by Qudsia Begum. It is claimed that before the mosque, it was a meeting place for Hindus to sit. Chandrashekhar Tiwari, President of Sanskriti Bachao Manch, claimed that the mosque has been built by demolishing the temple. A demand has been made to conduct a survey to the Chief Minister and the Home Minister. A petition is being filed in the court regarding this, he said. This case of the claim of the mosque being a temple remained talk of the town throughout the day. Sanskriti Bachao Manch has also cited a book written by Qudsia Begum. At the same time, other documents related to the mosque have also been collected, which will be presented in the court. A demand will be made to conduct a survey through the petition. Sudhir Mane, President of Veer Shivaji Jagriti Manch, said, “The picture will be clear after conducting the survey.”
