The Nagpur Branch Office of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on Thursday conducted raid on spurious manufacturer of electronics and IT products sold by IMEE.

The raid was conducted by the BIS team at the

premises of M/s Surya & Company, 101, Krishna Leela Apartment, near Timber Bhawan, Lakadganj, Nagpur.

During the raid, the firm was found engaged in selling electronics and IT products. The firm was also found violating the other norms.

The electronics & IT products are under the mandatory registration scheme vide Notification No. S.O. 1248(E) dated March 18, 2021 issued by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India.

BIS is the authority for certification / registration and conformity enforcement to the Standard Mark under the order / notification.

The team seized DC/AC supplied electronic control gear, emergency LED bulbs, home theater, soundbars with subwoofers, recessed LED luminaries, set top box, and electric iron. Further appropriate legal actions as per the provisions of BIS Act 20l6 and Notification issued by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India shall be initiated against the M/s Surya & Company.

BIS advised the masses not to purchase IMEE brand of above mentioned products manufactured and marketed by M/s Surya & Company and brand IMEE as these are spuriously manufactured without following BIS norms. The raid was conducted under the guidance of Vijay Nitnaware, Director & Head, BIS, Nagpur.
