A FINE unbeaten half-century by Aniruddha Choudhari and an all round performance from Prerit Agrawal helped Pravin Hingnikar Cricket Academy (PHCA) clinch the Late AK Gandhi Under-25 T20 Cricket Tournament which was jointly organised by Shri Binzani City College and Shri Binzani City College Cricket Academy.
In the final, PHCA thrashed City Gymkhana by 87 runs to wrest the coveted title.
Invited to bat first, PHCA scored 160 runs for seven wickets in allotted 20 overs. Choudhari remained unbeaten on 91 from 59 deliveries. Agrawal scored run-a-ball 22 for PHCA.
For City Gymkhana, Kshitij Dahiya and Manthan Borundia took two wickets each.
In reply, City Gymkhana were bundled out for 73 runs in 12.5 overs.
Agrawal wreaked havoc as he scalped six wickets conceding just six runs from his quota of four overs. Vivlesh Boddolu took two wickets. Akshay Kumar was the top scorer for City Gymkhana with 15 runs.
Agrawal was named man of the match while Dahiya was declared man of the series. Choudhari was adjudged as the best batsman of the tournament and Agrawal won the best bowler award.
Hemant Gandhi, Secretary, Vidarbha Cricket Association, was chief guest of the prize distribution function. Dr Harish Rathi, Secretary, Nagpur Shikshan Mandal, presided over. Suhas Phadkar, ex-Ranji player and Chairman, Vidarbha Ranji Selection Committee and Achal Gandhi were the guests of honour.
Yash Gandhi, Adv Rajiv Deo, Dr Sandip Tundurwar, Vice-Principal, Dr Rajesh Alone, HoD Sports, Dr Prabhakar Chandekar, Dr Rahul Kharabe, Swaroop Shrivastav, Nandu Ate and others were present during the function.
Dr Sujit Metre, Principal, SB City College, made introductory remark while Prof Kalpana Mishra conducted the proceedings. Dr Sanjay Choudhari proposed a vote of thanks.
