THE Joint Forum of Unions and Associations in Public Sector General Insurance Companies, representing more than 50,000 employees and officers have deferred their indefinite strike call from June 20, after getting the assurance and appeal by GIPSA Chairman, CE, GIPSA andAll Four Companies CMDs of PSGICS to withdraw the call for indefinite strike. This decision has been taken after the meeting of JFTU constituents, said Prashant Dixit, General Secretary, General Insurance Employees’ Union, Western Zone & Convenor JFTU Nagpur. After a meeting called by the management, it was confirmed by CE, GIPSA in writing, that the Wage Revision issue is under active consideration at appropriate level and GIPSA management is regularly and seriously following the same with DFS officials. Further, it is to be mentioned that the employees and officers have been carrying out their agitation for the last 3 years to meet their legitimate demands. Earlier, the Wage Revision for the Employees of Public Sector General Insurance Companies were settled immediately after thecompletionofWageRevision in other financial sector viz., banks and LIC. This is the first time,theWageRevisionofPublic Sector General Insurance Companies has not been initiated, after a lapse of nearly 59 months from the due date. It is worth mentioning here that the Public Sector General Insurance Companies had ensured uninterrupted services to the policy holders / and the citizens even during the COVID time and around 250 employees and officers had to sacrifice their lives, while executing their offical duties. Ever since, the formation of the Public Sector General Insurance Companies, they have achieved various mile stones and have given thousands of crores of rupees as dividend and taxes to the Government and have fullfilled many social obligations. The Public Sector General Insurance Companies have been working for the common man of this country and have been providing, General insurance Services to nearly 50 Crore people of this Country, at a nominal premium with active participation of lakhs of agent forces and have successed in variousGovernment Schemes of financial inclusion / Prime MinistersSuraksha Bhima yojana,Ayushman Bharat HealthScheme and various otherSchemes for Rural and CropInsurance. PSGI Companies arestruggling hard against theunethical practices of variousPrivate Companies in India. The issue was discussed indetail, amongst all the constituents of theforum and itwas agreed by all unanimously to defer the proposed indefinite strike actions from June20 for two weeks and all other IR actions are also kept inabeyance for the time being. However, leadership ofJFTU constituents shallbe prepared for any drastic IRaction, if required after 30thJune 2022.
