A team of Lokayukta Police, Jabalpur, on Thursday caught red-handed an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of District Home Guard, Chhindwara, while taking bribe. The Lokayukta team arrested the ASI and is undertaking further investigation.

As per information received the team of Lokayukta Police Jabalpur, they arrested Pradeep Kumar Sharma, who is posted in Home Guard office Chhindwara as ASI, while he was taking bribe of Rs 10,000 outside the office from Home Guard Jawan Pankaj Pawar.

The ASI was threatening the Home Guard Jawan to deposit kit and that he would get his nomination cancelled.

The Home Guard Jawan did not join the duty for almost two years and joined the office nearly three months ago. The ASI was threatening him. Aggrieved of continuous threats, Home Guard jawan Pawar visited Jabalpur and apprised Lokayukta SP Sanjay Sahu about the same.

On Thursday, while he was giving the bribe amount to ASI Sharma, the Lokayukta team caught him read-handed outside his office. Team comprised of Deputy SP Dilip Jharbade, Inspector Swapnil Das, Inspector Bhupendra Diwan and others.
