Dushyant Deshpande, coordinator of the Vidarbha Defense Industries Association, recently said that the Vidarbha region has the potential take up the challenging opportunities of Defense Sector due to its ever developing infrastructure, strategic geographical location and availability of ample technical education institutions.
“But we are falling short in reaching and grabbing those opportunities. If entrepreneurs work together to develop a cluster-based ecosystem, no one can stop Vidarbha from becoming a hub in defense sector,” he said while expressing his views at the Augment Session organised by Vidarbha Management Association (VMA) at Chitanvis Centre.
Deshpande interacted with leading entrepreneurs and briefed them on the opportunities and challenges. Mentioning that the Central Government is optimistic about indigenous technology and research, Deshpande further said that being at the center of the country is the best thing for Nagpur. “Investors will not come to Vidarbha unless they are provided a platform for cluster based ecosystem. There is a huge need for skilled technical manpower in the field of armaments, aviation and aerospace. If research-based technical manpower is created in the near future, then investors in defense manufacturing can show interest in Vidarbha,” he observed.
He further said that despite the huge infrastructure, we are not able to attract investment in defense sector. “Therefore, entrepreneurs in Vidarbha should focus on the triad of manufacturing, service and marketing while creating alternative systems based on the clusters,” he said adding that we should come forward strongly and raise our voice for our development.
Sudhir Laturkar, session’s In-Charge, highlighted the common mistakes made by the entrepreneurs in the ‘Sunday Tip’ session. He said, making a mistake is not wrong, but repeating it is harmful. Entrepreneurs should curb unnecessary spending. Independent financial planning’s and insurance are inadvertently neglected in war-torn situations, he said. Moderator Atul Bhaiya conducted the session.
