MeT alerts of heavy rains today

SOUTHWEST Monsoon, the major source of water to all sectors in the State is still awaited to bless Raipur with its flurry of showers.
After losing momentum for nearly a week, MeT Centre has forecast of generally overcast conditions with thunderstorm along with rainfall expected in the capital city on Tuesday. However, the conditions have again become favourable and Monsoon has registered its presence in all districts in the State.
Though Raipur received trace rainfall during the evening hours, the dark cloud cover over the city did not transform into thundershowers till late evening on Tuesday. Rainfall was recorded ate several places in the outer areas of Raipur district while the capital city with just trace rainfall was yet to receive the flurry of Monsoon showers.
Meanwhile, the MeT Centre has warned of heavy rainfall and thunderstorm expected at isolated places over the State from June 27 to 30. Apart from the four-day warning, the related rainfall activities will be fairly widespread on June 27 followed with widespread rainfall from June 28 to 30. Though rainfall activities is predicted for next four days, surprisingly the weatherman in its general forecast have stated of no large change in maximum temperature over the State during the next five days.
However, based-on the main state-wide data, Mungeli and Lohandiguda received 50mm rainfall on Monday. Bhopalapatnam recorded 40mm, Nagri, Makdi and Bijapur – 30mm, Raigarh, narayanpur, Bodla, Pakhanjur, Champa, Dondi and Patharia – 20mm, Kota, Kasdol, Rajim, Ramanujnagar, Mahasamund, Bilaigarh, Manpur, Baloda Bazaar, Bagbahra, Pallari, Usur, Gariaband and Baderajpur recorded 10mm each and below 10mm rainfall was recorded at many places. In the forecast, MeT Centre has stated of thunderstorm along with light to medium rainfall at many places in the state on June 28. The sky will be generally cloudy with chances of thunderstorm along with rainfall in Raipur on Tuesday.
