OVERNIGHT sole leader Nagpur’s Vishwaja Deshmukh finished second best in the girls category of Maharashtra State Selection Tournament Under-7 that concluded at Symbiosis School in Pune.
Vishwaja and Mumbai’s Amaya Roy were both tied at six points each from seven rounds. When the Buchholz tie-break rule was applied, Vishwaja was adjudged second.
City’s Swara Borkhade was the only other player who finished in the top ten bracket. With five points in her kitty, Swara ended the tourney at eighth position.
Vishwaja, along with Roy, will represent Maharashtra State in forthcoming National Under-7 Championship which will be held in Udaipur.
