Lt Gen M K Das, Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Bar to Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal, assumed command of Madhya Bharat Area at Jabalpur on Thursday.
The General Officer is an alumni of Ewing Christian College, Allahabad, and was commissioned into the 11th Battalion, Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry on June 14, 1986. During his career, the General Officer has witnessed action during Operation Pawan in Sri Lanka wherein he was awarded the Sena Medal (Gallantry).
The General Officer has served with distinction in various challenging field tenures along the Line of Control, High Altitude Areas of Central Sector, Arunachal Pradesh and North Sikkim. He is an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, Army War College and has attended the prestigious National Defence College. He has commanded his unit in the challenging counter insurgency environment as part of Operation Rhino and was awarded the Bar to Sena Medal for his contribution towards signing of Bodo Accord and ceasefire with NDFB.
The General Officer has held various instructional and staff appointments including instructor at Infantry School, Mhow, Colonel Administration at Officer Training Academy, Chennai, Military Secretary’s Branch and Additional Director General Manpower (Policy and Planning) at Army Headquarters. He has commanded an Assam Rifles Sector and was General Officer Commanding of the Pine Division. The General Officer is regarded as a professional and a thinker with penchant for professional excellence. He believes in teamwork and efficiency.
The General Officer was awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal on January 26, 2022, for his unparalleled contribution to the Armed forces. The General Officer assumed command of the largest and oldest Area of the Indian Army post his tenure as Commandant of Officers Training Academy, Chennai.
