A DOCTOR at a medical college was arrested for molesting a medical student in Bhilai. The accused doctor was arrested from his bungalow in Talpuri International Colony, Bhilai on Wednesday noon. The accused doctor was granted bail after the police produced him in the court following his arrest.

Police sources informed that the accused was identified as Dr P K Rath (65), a resident of Lotus Bungalow, Talpuri International Colony, Bhilai. The police said that in her compliant the victim medical student alleged the accused Dr P K Rath for making indecent advances and lewd talking.

After complaint Bhilai Nagar police have registered the offence against the accused under sections 354 and 509 of IPC for making indecent advances and lewd talking.

The police also said that the offence was registered on June 21 but the accused was out of station and the police arrested him from his residential bungalow in Talpuri International Colony, Bhilai after he returned. The accused in the case P K Rath is serving as HoD, ICU, Shri Shankaracharya Medical College, Bhilai after getting superannuated from HoD, ICU, JLN Hospital, Bhilai. The police are investigating to initiate further legal action in the matter. Confirming details, Rajesh Kumar Sahu, Station House Officer, Bhilai Nagar Police Station informed that the police are further investigating to ascertain finally the criminal charges and for subsequent prosecution of the accused Dr P K Rath.
