In another development in the investigation ongoing in Axis Bank forgery here, Raipur Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two more persons indulged in the crime and recovered over Rs 1 crore cash.
“The probing team has arrested two accused persons from Hyderabad and brought them here on transit remand. From the possession of the accused duo, the team had seized over Rs 1 crore cash,” said SSP Prashant Agrawal. The arrested were identified as Satyanarayan Verma alias Satish Verma (33) and Sai Praveen Reddy (28), both natives of Hyderabad, added the officer. The accused conmen were produced in a local court here on Wednesday which sent them to three days Police Custody Remand (PCR), said Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Kirtan Rathore. It may be recalled that Raipur Police have already arrested seven persons, including the manager of Axis Bank’s Dunda Branch, in the case and recovered cash to the tune of over Rs 84.95 lakh from them. The accused persons have allegedly siphoned the massive amount from the account of Chhattisgarh Rajya Krishi Mandi Board through fraudulent means. Investigation revealed that the accused persons in connivance with the bank manager allegedly managed to get a cheque book of the board’s account issued through fraudulent means. By misusing the issued cheques, the accused persons have allegedly siphoned the amount through RTGS and transactions. Earlier, police have recovered Rs 38 lakh in the case and managed to hold around Rs 98 lakh in separate accounts
