Combined team of Economic Offence Wing (EOW) Jabalpur and Sagar trapped a Regional Commissioner of Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) while taking bribe of Rs. 5 lakh from a private company owner for not taking action against him, on Sunday.
Superintendent of Police, EOW Jabalpur, Devendra Pratap Singh Rajput informed that Aniruddha Pimplapure, owner of BR & Company, resident of Civil Line Sagar lodged a written complaint that Satish Kumar, Regional Commissioner, EPFO, Sagar Division registered a case against his firm and was regularly pressurising him for giving bribe of Rs 10 lakhs for settlement of case.
Taking a serious note on the complaint, a team led by Inspector, Uma Nawal Arya deployed for verification of complaint. The team recorded conversation between appellant and respondent related to demand of bribe and it was confirmed that the respondent Regional Commissioner, EPFO was demanding instalment of bribe Rs. 5 lakhs in advance.
In prima facie of the investigation, EOW registered a case against the corrupt officer under Relevant Sections of Prevention of Corrupt Act 1988, Amended Act 2018.
On June 5, the appellant was deployed for trapping the corrupt officer red handed who called the appellant at his residence. Once the accused received marked currency notes amounting to Rs. 5 lakhs, EOW team trapped the corrupt officer red-handed and seized the cash of bribery. The trap was successfully conducted by combine team of Jabalpur and Sagar comprised of Inspector, Uma Nawal Arya, Inspector, Swarnjeet Singh Dhami, Inspector, Prerna Pandey, Inspector, Chandrajeet Yadav, SI, Govind Yadav, SI, Sonal Pandey, SI, Vishakha Tiwari, SI, Roshni Soni and others.
