Worried over the perennial problem of water logging in the congested lanes of Sitabuldi market, local traders have urged the civic authorities to take preventive measures ahead of the monsoon. A delegation of the traders, under the leadership of Dinesh Gawande, President of Bharatiya Janata Party Traders’ Cell, recently met Prakash Varade, Assistant Commissioner, Dharampeth Zone, Dharampeth, Nagpur and highlighted the issues they are facing for the past many years during the monsoon.
Modi number 2 & 3, Telipura Electronics Market, Somwar Bazar Road, Pacheriwal Bhawan Galli, Sitabuldi main road and other low-lying areas witness water logging in monsoon every year.
Gawande said that not only the traders and residents of the area face hardship due to water logging but the customers visiting the markets also suffer. “It is also affecting the business of the traders who are expecting good business during the season,” he added.
The local traders demanded the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to clean drainage lines and repair the broken pipes. “A timely action will certainly give some relief to the traders and customers,” said the traders and residents including Amit Pathak, Vinod Mahule, Rajesh Jadhav, Amit Meshram, Shubham Gadgilwar, Wasim Ansari, Varun Mehadia, Amol Wagh, Promod Paithankar and others.
