Jabalpur ranked seventh in the ‘Eat Right Challenge’ competition in the country. During a programme organised by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India in New Delhi, CEO of Jabalpur Smart City Limited was given the award. Union Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya was the chief guest of the programme.
During the programme, announcement of the winners of State Food Security Index, ‘Eat Right Challenge’ and ‘Eat Right Smart City Challenge’ was done and awards were given to the winners. The ‘Eat Right Challenge’ competition was organised in different cities across the country in which 188 cities participated.
The objective of the competition was to promote ‘Eat Right’ innovations in India and to promote and propagate food safety regulations smoothly. Apart from that, its purpose was to motivate the states to improve their performance and to encourage other States.
Out of 188 cities which took part in the competition, Indore city has registered a significant
achievement by getting the first position out of all the cities of India. Out of total nine participating districts from Madhya Pradesh, Indore got the first, Bhopal third, Ujjain fifth and Jabalpur got seventh place.
The achievement of the State in the ‘Eat Right Challenge’ competition is the result of co-ordination and tireless efforts of all the Food Security administration and the district administration.
In various activities set by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, such as increase in license registration , sample collection, surveillance work, eat right campus, hygiene rating and specific innovation, the winning districts make constant efforts to achieve the goals.
The general public was also made aware of the importance of food security through special innovation activities in each district. In view of the enthusiastic response of the first phase of the competition, Eat Right Challenge Phase II has also been announced for the districts. In this challenge, 25 districts of Madhya Pradesh are participating.
