PSGI employees observe ‘walk out strike’

As per the call given by the apex body of Joint Forum of Trade Unions and Associations (JFTU) in Public Sector General Insurance (PSGI) Companies, PSGI Employees observed ‘one hour walk out strike’ before lunch and held demonstrations demanding immediate settlement of long pending Wage Revision. PSGI employees also demanded 1995 Pension Scheme to all by scrapping National Pension System (NPS), Uniform Family Pension of 30 per cent, updation of pension and to repeal the amendments in General Insurance Business Nationalization ACT(GIBNA).
In Nagpur, PSGI employees walked out from their office at 12.30 pm and gathered in front of the Regional office of United India Insurance Company Limited situated on Shankar Nagar Square.
The aggrieved employees shouted slogans demanding immediate settlement of Wage Revision along with other demands. They raised slogans condemning the Government of India for their alleged anti-public sector, anti-employees policies and delaying tactics of Government.
Rajendra Saroj of National Insurance Officers Association, Swapnil Kohle of United India Insurance Company Officers Association, Anil Sakharkar of General Insurance Backward Employees Welfare Association, Vinod Sakhare of All India SC/ST Employees Parishad (Jaimurty), Pravin Dongre of All India SC/ST Employees Welfare Association, Prashant Dixit, General Secretary of General Insurance Employees Union (GIEU) Western Zone and Pradeep Dharamthok, President of GIEU WZ, addressed the gathering.
The speakers condemn the Government and GIPSA Management for delaying wage revision of PSGI employees due for the last 58 months. Anti-employees and anti-Public Sector Policies of Government were also condemned by the speakers. All the speakers appealed PSGI employees to intensify their struggle and fight unitedly to achieve their legitimate demands.
Pradeep Dharamthok in his address said that the delegation of their organisation met the Union Finance Minister for settlement of Wage Revision. She only assured that shortly the issue will be looked into by her, which she has assured earlier also.
After the meeting a joint memorandum was submitted to Chairperson, GIPSA through Dy. General Manager of United India insurance co Ltd. PSGI employees along with retired employees attended the demonstrations and meeting.
