CHHATTISGARH Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Cabinet Ministers T S Singhdeo, Tamradhwaj Sahu and other Ministers have congratulated newly-elected 15th President of India Draupadi Murmu, who defeated the candidate of the opposition parties Yashwant Sinha in the presidential election. Baghel wrote on his Tweeter account, “I extend my best wishes and greetings to Draupati Murmu Ji on being elected the 15th President of India, from the people of Chhattisgarh. It is trust that as the Constitutional Guardian of the Republic of India, the glorious history of protecting the democratic values of the citizens of the country will be preserved in her hands.” Cabinet Minister Singhdeo wrote on his Tweeter account, “Congratulations to Smt Draupadi Murmu Ji for being elected as the next President of India. My best wishes to her, as she takes upon this esteemed position, to uphold, protect and preserve the Constitution and constitutional rights of every citizen of the country.” It may be mentioned that two Congress MLAs from Chhattisgarh also crossvoted in the presidential election. There are 71 Congress MLAs, 14 BJP MLAs, 3 JCC (Jogi) MLAs and 2 BSP MLAs in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. NDA candidate Draupati Murmu got 21 votes from Chhattisgarh which means there has been a cross voting from the Congress. Two votes from the Congress has gone to the NDA Candidate.
