AMRITSAR,

AMRITSAR Police have sealed the area where two Sidhu Moose Wala killers were gunned down in an encounter post a heavy exchange of fire with Punjab Police near Amritsar, said officials on Thursday.
“One pistol and two more magazines recovered. A bag containing ammunition was also recovered. The area will remain sealed for the next two days,” Amritsar DCP (Detective) Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar said. The killed gangsters were identified as Jagroop Singh Roopa and Manpreet Singh from whom an AK47 and pistol were recovered after the encounter. “We have sealed the entire area, not allowing any movement here. The body was taken yesterday itself,” said Assistant Sub-Inspector, Sarbjit Singh.
Heavy gunfire reminded villagers of terror-struck days of 1980s: IT WAS a blast from the past, quite literally, for the people of Bhakna and nearby villages in Amritsar, when they were asked to abandon their fields on Wednesday morning as police rained bullets at a house where the alleged killers of Sidhu Moosewala were hiding.
The villagers said the sound of gunfire reminded them of the 1980s, when terrorism was at its peak in Punjab.
Broken mobile phone, ammunition & pharma opioids seized: A day after gunning down of two sharpshooters in a nearly five-hour long gunfight, who were allegedly involved in the sensational killing of famed Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, a senior Punjab Police official on Thursday said a broken mobile phone and a bag containing ammunition, clothes and some pharma opioids were seized from the spot.
He said that no document was recovered from the scene to establish their identity. Also there was no proof so far that the sharpshooters were planning to cross over to Pakistan. The shooters were hired by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, the main conspirator who confessed that the execution planning of Moosewala was hatched in August last year to avenge the murder of Vicky Middukhera.
