A male black deer died after drowning in water in Jamuniya village near Bhopal on Sunday.
In this monsoon season, due to incessant rains for the last few days, rivers and streams are in spate and a situation of water-logging has been created at many places.
Due to this accidents are also happening. In one such accident, a male black deer died due to drowning in water. The incident took place on Sunday near Jamuniya village near Bhopal. The deer’s carcass has been recovered and its post-mortem was done on Monday afternoon. The deer got trapped in the mud and bushes.
During this, due to excessive rainfall, the area got water-logged and it could not come out. He died due to drowning. This is the first incident of death of a wild animal due to drowning in water this rainy season.
Bhopal General Forest Division SDO R S Bhadauria said that it is raining heavily. There was also a situation of water-logging around Jamuniya village. Some villagers saw that some wild animal was lying dead in the water. Forest workers were sent to the spot. When people reached near the dead animal with the help of the locals, it was found that it was a black deer.
Excessive rainfall has adverse effect on wildlife as well: Due to the excessive rainfall for the last one week, the life of humans as well as wildlife is being adversely affected. There is a flood situation in the rivers and streams.
Experts say that vegetarian wild animals have to worry about food. On the other hand, wildlife like tigers, leopards and bears are not affected much.
