The Government officials and employees of the district went on strike from Monday, demanding 34 per cent dearness allowance and house rent allowance in the seventh pay scale from the due date on the same basis as the centre.
This strike of about 20,000 officers and employees of 53 departments will continue till July 29. The work in the offices of Government departments was stalled on the first day as they went on strike. Due to which a situation of confusion was created among the people who reached the Government offices for their work. Especially the people who reached
the office of Education,
Health, Corporation, Tehsil, Collectorate were upset due to lack of work. This situation will last for a week. Because the officers-employees will be on strike till July 29. After that, on July 30 and 31, the Government offices will automatically remain closed due to Saturday and Sunday.
The Government officers-employees gathered in front of Hindi Bhawan under banner of Chhattisgarh Employees-Officers Federation on Monday, the first day of the strike.
Here they sat on a dharna and expressed their anger against the policies of the State Government. The Federation’s Durg division in-charge Rajesh Chatterjee, district convener Vijay Lahre and spokesperson Anurup Sahu said that the state government has violated the fundamental rights of officers and employees by not giving DA and HRA. They said that the central employees are getting 34 per cent DA at present, while the DA in the state is 22 per cent, which has been made effective from May 1, 2022.
