A major accident was averted in the State capital on Sunday. A 100-year-old Banyan tree fell in front of Kamala Park.
Luckily, there was no traffic on the road, otherwise there could have been casualties.
However, there was traffic jam for some time after the tree fell, which was later diverted by the police. A bike got buried under a thick branch of the tree, while the youth sitting on it survived. He sustained minor injuries. He was taken to hospital soon after the accident, where he was discharged after first-aid. After the tree fell, team of Bhopal Municipal Corporation was engaged in removing it. Locals said that this tree was decades old. Some people say that it was more than 100-year-old tree, which had become the identity of the area. Some elderly people of the area were emotional due to felling of this tree.
Less traffic in morning due to Sunday
Every day a large number of people pass through this place where the tree fell. Especially during office timings, but being a Sunday there was less traffic on the road in the morning hours. Due to this, casualties were avoided.
