MSEDCL unearths power theft at377 establishments in three days

Adopting zero tolerance policy towards power theft, Nagpur Circle of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) further intensified crackdown against power thefts.
During the last three days of the drive, the Vigilance Team along with field officials detected 377 cases of illegal tapping of electricity from the power lines.
About 200 persons were found to be pilfering power in Nagpur city alone as MSEDCL renewed its campaign against power thieves.
After studying the figures of power supplied and recovery, MSEDCL zeroed in on Tajnagar, Samta Nagar, Kamgar Nagar, Indora, Lumbini Nagar, Shiv Nagar and Wanjra areas of Lashkaribagh sub-division under the Civil Lines Division of city.
Similarly, in Nandanvan sub-division under Shrikrishna Nagar Distribution Center checks were undertaken in Hasanbagh area to weed out power thefts.
Electricity bill recovery and power theft detection operation was carried out under Binaki feeder and ST Stand Distribution Center under Tulshibagh sub-division.
During the operation, in Binaki Mangalwari, power thefts were detected at Model Mill Chawl under ST Stand Distribution Center. In Nagpur city, 55 power thefts were caught in Gandhibagh and Mahal divisions each.
In Nagpur rural areas also, a vigorous crackdown was carried out against power thieves. Action was taken against 149 people for reported under utilisation of electricity indicating power pilferage. In Wardha district, action was taken against 37 power thieves. In rural areas, the highest number of 64 power thefts were caught in Umred sub-division.
A strong police contingent accompanied the Vigilance Team of MSEDCL.
The campaign was carried out under the guidance of MSEDCL Regional Director Suhas Rangari and under the leadership of Chief Engineer Dilip Dodke by Executive Engineers, Additional Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers, Janmitra and other employees.
