Partition Horror Remembrance Day observed at Shahid Smarak

The Partition Horrors Remembrance Day was observed at Shahid Smarak, on Sunday. During the programme, the horrors of the partition on August 14, 1947 was recalled. On the occasion, the elderly person who came to India from Sindh and Punjab, then provinces of India and who saw and suffered the tragedy at the time of independence were honored. An exhibition showing the tragedy of Partition was also organized.
Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Steel, Faggan Singh Kulaste was the chief guest of the programme. Speaking on the occasion, he recalled partition a sad chapter of Indian history. He said on the call of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi we are celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava and for this a large series of programs are going on for a year. He said people have seen the pain of partition and no one has made the new generation aware of that pain, but the work has been done on the call of Prime Minister Modi. Kulaste said we are blessed by honoring the people who or their families have endured the horrors of Partition.
Expressing views on the occasion, Member of Parliament, Rakesh Singh said on one hand we are celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava while on the other people of India have also faced the tragedy of partition of the country, in which about 1.50 crore people were displaced and about 20 lakh people died. There was a great sin like outraging the modesty young girls, women and at this cost the country was divided into two. Therefore keeping in mind the sufferings of those who had faced atrocities, sacrificed their lives and the lapse of the then leadership, Prime Minister Modi has called upon to celebrate August 14 as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.
Those also present on the occasion were Rajya Sabha MP Sumitra Valmiki, MLA Ajay Vishnoi, Ashok Rohani, Former Mayor Swati Godbole, Sadanand Godbole, Dr Jitendra Jamdar, Rinku Vij, Abhay Singh Thakur, Anil Tiwari, Shrikant Sahu, Ravi Sharma and others.
