ST JOHN’S High School Nagpur (NMC) and MM Rabbani High School (Rural) won their respective Subroto Cup finals to emerge Under-14 and Under-17 Nagpur Division champions respectively on Sunday.

In the U-14 final, St John’s defeated MM Rabbani (Rural) 2-0. Sumit Rana Singh scored the opening goal in the 19th minute of play while Mahaviya Sheikh added one in 25th minute for the winners. The team was coach by Savio Andrews.

MM Rabbani High School (Rural) also recorded an identical win over Centre Point School, Katol Road in the U-17 final. Both the goals were scored by Arshil Akhtar.

The Under-14 team will depart on Monday for Pune to take part in State championship while the Under-17 boys will leave for the same venue on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, in U-17 age group, St Peter’s HS drubbed Chanda PS, Chandrapur 6-0. Vivek Zade and Lalanchuga Fanchun struck twice while Ved Chole and Aditya Selokar scored once each. Chandrapur Rural managed a 2-1 win over Wardha BVM, Lloyd. For the winners, Kavya Burgate and Prashik Upare found the target. Abhiram Nambiar reduced margin for the losers.

Riding on Mohd Adnan’s goal, Nagpur Rural pipped Bhandara 1-0 while Nagpur NMC beat Bhandara also 1-0 with Debrachit Pattnaik managing to beat the goalkeeper.
