The Handloom Expo - 2022 being held here at Bishop Cotton High School playground near old VCA Ground in Civil Lines is getting overwhelming response from the visitors. The exhibition-cum- sale which started on August 7 will conclude on September 12. It remains open for the visitors between 10.00 am and 9.00 pm.
The objective behind organising the expo is to promote the artisans coming from all over the country. There are more than 90 stalls representing different states of India. The visitors may see amazing products of cotton, silk, handloom made by master craftsmen from all over India displayed in the stalls.
The participants are directly selling their products at the lowest costs directly to the customers and thus the customers can get authentic and exclusive products.
The products put on display are exclusive and attractive. Silk and cotton sarees, dress materials, suits and dupattas, kurtas and kurties along with fashion jewellery and artifacts for home decor.
The regional and States’ specialties include a host of varieties like Bhagalpuri Tasar, Kosa and Khadi silk of Bihar, Lucknow Chikan, Jamdani and of course Banarasi silk from Uttar Pradesh, Chanderi and Maheshwari silk of MP, Patola, Bandhini and Kutch embroidery from Gujarat while artisans from Rajasthan are showcasing Bandhani and block print. The exhibition is all about the use of traditional handloom skills to create contemporary lifestyle products that are available under one roof.
