RINKY Yadav and Mayuri Marathe scored two goals each as Nagpur district girls wiped out Bhandara in a one-sided match of the ongoing Inter-District Football Championship being played at Palghar.
In a lop-sided match, Nagpur drubbed Bhandara 8-0 to move up in the knock-out competition. They will now play Buldana in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.
Nagpur were off to a flier as Sejal Sonare found the net in the third minute of play. Rinky then doubled the lead scoring in the 8th minute. Sneha Uikey then made it 3-0 for Nagpur in the 18th.
Rinky the scored her second and team’s fourth goal in the 22nd minute to take the fizz out of the match.
By the stroke of half-time, Nagpur added fifth goal through Reetika Sahant
The change of ends did not change the fortunes of Bhandara as they conceded three more goals.
Mayuri Marathe scored her first and team’s sixth goal in the first minute of second half and Muskan Upadhyay drilled in another in the 58th minute. Mayuri sealed the deal in the 60th minute to make it 8-0 for Nagpur.
In their earlier match, Bhandara had defeated Aurangabad 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller.
