Stricter implementation of laws must to check crime against women: Wagh

“CASES of violence against women often go unpunished due to lack of stricter implementation of laws meant to protect women. This is the reason why gruesome crimes like rapes continue to haunt society. We have urged Government to take measures for the strict implementation of these laws,” demanded Chitra Wagh, Vice-President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Maharashtra. She also demanded to set up special court in every district to deal with rape cases. Wagh was speaking to mediapersons at Patrakar Club of Nagpur on Saturday after her visit to Government Medical College and Hospital, Gondia to meet the 35-year old woman, who was raped and thrown in the forest at Bhandara.

“The woman was lying unconscious when some people saw her and brought her to GMCH, Nagpur, after initial check up at Bhandara Civil Hospital. I met the woman’s relatives, talked to the treating doctors and Dean. Both doctors Dr Kanchan Golawar and Dr Mansi Shrigiriwar have done fantastic job as they performed a very difficult surgery and saved the woman,” Wagh said. She also informed that Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was taking stock of the situation and was constantly instructing officers to provide every possible help to the woman. “There are 1.64 cases of violence against women pending which is not good thing. Speedy implementation of Manodhairya schemes is need of the hour,” she informed. In Hinganghat too, where a woman was burnt, previous Mahavikas Aghadi Government did not fulfill promise it had given, alleged Wagh. She informed mediapersons that she had spoken to Additional Superintendent of Police Aniket Bharati under whose guidance investigation gained momentum. Earlier, there were three accused but it has now come to fore that there was fourth accused too whose identity has not yet been revealed, informed Wagh. Wagh was accompanied by Sanjay Bhende, Maharashtra State Vice President of BJP; Shivani Dani, State General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and Ritesh Gawande of Nagpur BJYM.
