Union Minister and Chief Promoter of Agro Vision Nitin Gadkari said if the farmers want to make agriculture profitable then they should take advantage of modern technology and the schemes of the Central and State Governments. He also said that the farmers should come together and set up agricultural companies. “Agricultural companies that produce quality agriculture products can fetch good profit,” he said while addressing the seminar on ‘Fruits and Vegetables in Vidarbha and Export Opportunities of Agricultural Produce’ organised by Agro Vision Foundation and Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) here at Center Point Hotel.
Gadkari inaugurated the seminar while Director of APEDA, Dr Tarun Bajaj, Director of Vanamati Ravindra Thackeray, Consultant, Dr C D Mayee, President of Agra Vision Foundation, Ravindra Bortkar, Divisional Manager of APEDA, Nagpal Lohkare, progressive farmers Anandrao Raut, Ramesh Mankar and Prashant Kukde were also present. Dr Mayee, Anandrao Raut, Ravindra Thackeray and Dr Tarun Bajaj also expressed their views on the occasion.
The program was moderated by Avinash Gulgule and vote of thanks was proposed by Ravindra Bortkar. Nagpal Lohkare of Apeda discussed the futuristic plans of Apeda while Ajay Kadu, Deputy General Manager, Maharashtra State Marketing Board spoke about the current export status of Vidarbha. Dr. Ashutosh Murkute, gave information about citrus fruit cultivation and Arvind Kulkarni of Smartchem explained the need for micro nutrients in fruit and vegetable production. In the final session, Varun Vijayvargi of VED spoke on export opportunities in various countries. Orange exporter Sandeep Chavan guided on the precautions to be taken for export capable production.
