Sagar serial killer nabbed

Sagar Police have arrested the serial killer who murdered four watchmen who were sleeping during night duty. Ten teams of 250 police personnel worked day and night and finally arrested the serial killer from Bhopal.

This serial killer had killed four watchmen in Sagar and struck again in Bhopal claiming the next victim, a fifth watchman, Sonu Verma (23), on Thursday night in Khajuri Sadak area of Bairagarh. He had smashed the head of this watchman with marble stones. This watchman was also killed while he was sleeping. The incident was recorded on CCTV.

The serial killer has been identified as Shiv Gond (20), a resident of Kesli block of Sagar. He has confessed to killing six watchmen, four in Sagar, one in Bhopal and one in Pune. The killer claimed to be a fan of a character from movie KGF-2 and targeted those watchmen who were sleeping during their night duty. He had murdered four watchmen in Sagar, Shambhu Sharan Dubey, Kalyan Lodhi, Uttam Rajak, Mangal Ahirwar and one Sonu Verma in Bhopal.

During interrogation Shiv Gond informed the police that he was impressed with character of ‘Rocky Bhai’ in KGF-2 film. He aimed to become a gangster and was collecting funds for the same. In future, he was planning to target police personnel and for this, he wanted to buy a pistol. He is class VIII passed.

Sagar police were working day and night as within a span of 72 hours, three watchmen were killed in different areas of the town in same manner. Police suspected a watchman killed in May month was also murdered by this same accused.

Sagar Superintendent of Police, Tarun Nayak informed that identification of accused was done through CCTV camera footage which police collected during investigation. Then police had earlier released a sketch of the accused. The location of serial killer was traced by Cyber Cell and then he was arrested from Bhopal. Police have taken the accused back to Sagar for further interrogation. One watchman, Hallu Sahu has informed Sagar police that on August 30, he was guarding a showroom when he saw a man in white shirt and pant. When he came out of the showroom, the man asked him to lend him a ‘beedi’. The watchman had seen him before in the same place so he gave him a ‘beedi’ and while he was smoking this man had informed watchman that he was angry with those sleeping on duty at night. When the watchman questioned him, he left the place without replying. He informed that he was staying in Thakur Baba area.

Police informed that serial killer seemed to be a psycho. He had worked as a waiter in hotels at Goa, Pune and Hyderabad. He recently returned to village after leaving the job. On August 27, he came to Sagar from Kesli on bicycle. On August 27, at Bhainsa area, he saw a watchman sleeping. He murdered him and fled. Then on August 29, he killed watchman of Govt Arts and Commerce College, Sagar. On August 30 he killed a watchman at Ratona area. After three deaths, police intensified vigil hence he fled to Bhopal. He reached Bhopal on August 31 and killed a watchman in Khajuri area of Bairagarh, Bhopal. Police informed that when he killed watchman Shambhu Sharan Dubey at Govt Arts and Commerce College and took away phone of the deceased.
