A class IX student of Kendriya Vidyalaya located in Lakhnadaun died after drowning in a pool in Math Ghogra, a religious place. The incident is said to have occured around 4 pm on Monday. After this accident, the relatives of the student, Salom Singh Pal (13), have levelled allegations of negligence on the school management. Police are investigating
Chandrabhan Singh, the father of the student Salom alias Sunny, alleged that the KV management had informed about holiday in the school at 11 am on Teachers’ Day. When he went to pick up his son during the holiday, he was not allowed to take the child. A school teacher said that programmes were going on in the school and would take an hour more. The teacher of the school had called on the mobile to inform about the holiday, but according to the father, he did not get any call again.
Father Chandrabhan Singh told that if he had come again for his leave from school, his child would have been with him today. He used to drop and bring his child back from school every day. Relatives questioned how the school management allowed th students to go to Math Ghoghra along with other students without their consent. The aunt of the deceased student said that Salom did not know how to swim. He always used to accompany his friend Mohit wherever he went, but how he went to Math Ghogra for a picnic with four or five children after the school programme ended on Teachers’ Day is a matter of investigation. The school management also did not pay any attention to this. The aunt of the deceased student alleged that someone pushed the student into the pool, which led to his death. She stated that if the other children who went with Salom come forward and told the truth of the incident, she would forgive those children.
Relatives of the deceased student also said that this incident should be investigated. Also the school management should enforce strict rules. In this, no decision should be taken without asking the parents of the students, nor should the children be left like this. So that such accidents do not happen in future.
After this incident, when an attempt was made to contact Kendriya Vidyalaya Principal, Niti Satsangi on Tuesday, her mobile number was switched off. A teacher of the same school informed that the children are allowed to leave the school along with the parents. Some children went home on their own after they were dropped till the gate. The deceased student did not inform any teacher of the school about going on a picnic nor did any school teacher accompany him.
