“Students must follow Swami Vivekananda’s qualities of punctuality and determination. Everyone needs to make efforts to protect and promote Indian culture and heritage and be punctual in their daily lives. We must pledge to adopt innovation, new techniques and science in agriculture to make it a profit oriented business,” opined Jawaharlal Nehru Agriculture University (JNAU), Vice-Chancellor Dr Pramod Kumar Mishra.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Mishra was addressing a programme organised by NSS unit of Agriculture College at Government Integrated Middle School, Sihoda marking the occasion of Swami Vivekanand Jayanti on Thursday. Present as special guest Director, Field, Dr D K Pahalwan said that Swamiji strongly favoured adoption of organic farming and water conservation in agriculture field.
Presiding over the programme, Dean Agriculture College, Dr P B Sharma emphasised over the need to improve status of water, soil and animal asset across the country so that farmers and agriculture sector obtain benefits. Youth need to carry-out a public campaign at rural areas to ensure rural development. Dean of Students’ Welfare, Dr Amit Sharma showered light on the life span, struggles and inspirational works of Swami Vivekananda.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Mishra and other invited dignitaries carried out plantation while students from schools practiced Surya Namaskar. Principal, Sihoda Primary School, Samay Lal, tescher Iti Prasad and former DSP, Naresh Sharma were present with farmers, students and common public of the area. NSS Officer Dr D K Singh compered the programme which concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Senior Scientist, Dr Archana Pandey.
IPRO, Dr Shekhar Singh Baghel, Dr Yatiraj Khare, Dr Amit Jha, Dr Neelu Vishwakarma and others were present. Dr Manoj Pathak, NSS Coordinator, Dr D K Singh and Dr Archana Pandey rendered special contribution in the successful programme.
