A boy was killed after he was hit by a train while running on a track chasing a kite. The heart-wrenching incident occurred at Kumbhartoli in Dhantoli Police Station area. The boy’s house is just 100 metres away from the spot.

The deceased was identified as Vansh Praveen Dhurve (13), a Standard VII student at Bhide High School. He was living with parents in a rented house. His mother Rajshree works in a hospital while his father is a security guard.

According to police, the incident occurred on Friday at 4 pm when Vansh was playing near his house with local boys. He saw a kite in the sky and started chasing it. In the process, his leg got stuck in the railway track.

Meanwhile, Gorakhpur-Yeshwantpur train came from Nagpur Railway Station side and hit him. Yash fell on the track and came under the wheels of the train. His friends alerted residents about the accident. A resident informed Rajshree. She rushed to the spot. She cried inconsolably and fell unconscious at the scene. Praveen also came there.

Staff of Dhantoli Police Station rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. A case of accidental death was registered by Dhantoli police.
