More than 3,400 children of the city paddled for 5 kilometer during Cycle Marathon organised on the fourth day of Sansad Khel Mahotsav, on Sunday. Prasad Mahankar, National Organisation Minister of Krida Bharti and International Wrestler Babita Phogat were guests on the occasion.
Addressing the programme, Mahankar said along with keeping oneself fit, the society can also be kept fit through sports. He said the way in which sports are played in Jabalpur parliamentary constituency, it will definitely awaken the spirit of sports in youth and they will work to take the society forward through sports.
He said that it is difficult to conduct the kind of sports that have been included in Sansad Khel Mahotsav as promoting traditional sports in this era of modernity gives the message that how can we plan our physical and mental development. Congratulating Member of Parliament, Rakesh Singh Mahankar for the event he said it will expand the talent of Jabalpur. He said such events work to convey the message of Swami Vivekananda, Subhash Chandra Bose to the youth because both the great men have given very inspirational guidance to youth and the youth of the country have achieved success by imbibing their thoughts.
International Wrestler, Babita Phogat reached the programme venue late as her flight landed in Jabalpur delayed. Therefore, giving message to the sportsperson through mobile, she said it is most important to participate in sports and play sports. Victory or defeat is not important because every player tries to give his best but someone has to win and someone has to lose. She said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon youth of the country to join Fit India Movement and for the same MP Singh has organized such a wonderful even in Jabalpur.
After reaching Ranital Sports complex Phogat played traditional games like Pittu, Rope Jump, Kanna Dudi, Gilli-Danda, Gulel, Chiti-Dhapp and also encouraged the children. Addressing the program, MP Rakesh Singh said Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes that the youth of the country should be healthy and strong.
Along with this, traditional sports have also been given a place, in this context a cycle marathon was organised under the Sansad Khel Mahotsav.
