Former Vidarbha captain and middle-order batter Shalabh Shrivastava has announced retirement from all forms of cricket.
In a message Shrivastava, who played for over 20 years in various age group and senior tournaments, said it was a pleasure to represent Vidarbha and Central Zone teams.
“After a career spanning over 20 years, I have decided to formally announce my retirement from all formats of cricket with immediate effect. It has been an honour and very satisfying to reach the pinnacle of my career, to lead Vidarbha for two seasons and also having played a major role in various facets of the game,” said Shrivastava in a message.
Shrivastava played 68 Ranji Trophy matches for Vidarbha and scored 3360 runs and took five wickets.
He also played 32 Vijay Hazare Trophy matches (790 runs), 40 Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy ties (639 runs and 6 wickets). He also is the second highest run getter for Vidarbha and had inflicted highest 22 run outs.
“It was both pleasure and joy to be part of the Vidarbha cricket team and Central Zone team. My cricketing development was also largely based on my school, college and club cricket which has helped me enormously and I remain indebted to my colleagues, fellow players, coaches and club members. I express my sincere gratitude to Vidarbha Cricket Association, schools, clubs, coaches and my well-wishers. It was a long enjoyable career and I am extremely happy to pursue my dream,” Shrivastava stated.
