Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday took a review meeting of preparations for the 67th Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Din celebrations to be held at Deekshabhoomi and at Dragon Palace, Kamptee, on October 24. The meeting decided to ensure this year's Dhamma Chakra celebrations will be initiated as a 'Plastic Free Zone' to maintain cleanliness and provide better facilities to the followers. Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Din celebrations at Deekshabhoomi has been a guiding light for the downtrodden and Dalits. Dy. CM instructed Nagpur Municipal Corporation's Sanitation Department to make an appeal for avoiding use plastic for drinking water, catering, food donation, toilet or any other work.
District Collector Dr Vipin Itankar; Additional Municipal Commissioner Anchal Goyal; Bhadant Arya Nagarjun Surei Sasai, Dr Sudhir Fulzele, Vilas Gajghate, Rajendra Gavai, N R Sute, all from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti, Deekshabhoomi; Sulekha Kumbhare, former Minister Resident Deputy Collector Subhash Chaudhari along with Head of Police and other departments were present at the meeting. The meeting was briefed about arrangement for drinking water, water supply for sanitation, maintenance of hygiene - cleaning, lighting system, bus system, medicine and temporary clinics, police bandobast, food donation and distribution, fire prevention measures, putting-up of hoardings and notice boards, accommodation in case of sudden rains, control room, CCTV cameras, availability of volunteers, disaster management system, health system, book stalls, exit routes were discussed.
It was pointed out that all CCTV cameras will remain functional, as well as the design of each stall should be as per design approved by the fire department and disaster management department. On this occasion, Fadnavis instructed officials to ensure that devotees coming to Deekshabhoomi should get good health care, and hence health check-ups should be made free, and also deployment of trainee doctors in large numbers for emergency patient care must be ensured. He directed that all department should co-ordinate with each other and carry out inspection and also prepare alternate plan. Followers coming from outside should not face any difficulty in reaching Deekshabhoomi and Dragon Palace. Authorities were directed to keep roads free of encroachments, hoardings and other hurdles, and ensure adequate garbage bins in the area.
