“District Election Office Jabalpur is all set for conducting peaceful and transparent polling for State Assembly Election – 2023 scheduled on November 17. A total of 18,67,841 voters would use their voting rights at 2130 polling stations in eight assembly constituencies in the district”, informed by Saurabh Kumar Suman, Collector and District Election Officer while addressing a press conference, on Monday. DEO, Suman added that along with the gazette notification for the State Assembly Elections – 2023, filing of nominations would be started on October 21 while last date of nominations will be October 30 and last date for nomination withdrawal will be November 2. Counting of votes will be conducted on December 3.
The DEO informed that returning officers for eight Assembly constituencies and three Assistant Returning Officers in Assembly constituency have been assigned for smooth operation of proceedings and strict implementation of Election Model Code of Conduct. Addressing the press conference, Superintendent of Police, Tushar Kant Vidyarthi informed that in order to maintain law and order situation in the district, preventive action is being taken against anti-social elements and listed criminals. Total numbers of 500 critical polling booths and 23 vulnerable polling booths have been identified and additional security arrangements are being made to avoid violation of Model Code of Conduct.
The election office has ensured availability of network connectivity, electricity, water and other necessary arrangements in all the polling stations in urban and rural areas. Separate teams for monitoring of expenditure, paid news, enforcement of election Model Code of Conduct are keeping vigilant eye on every single activity of candidates and political parties for conducting transparent elections.
